Automation seems to be taking over every aspect of society that is ripe for improvement. Now, the railway is finally being automated, thanks to a pioneering logistics company named Glīd Technologies.
Glīd Technologies Unveils Breakthrough Mobility As a Service
A history was made today at the 2025 New Mobility Futures event in Detroit, Michigan, a showcase for the latest mobility innovators in the industry and Glīd Technologies was at the forefront of the event.
Glīd Technologies, unveiled the world's first unmanned, autonomous, dual-mode road-to-rail platform, which is a Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform. This achievement is an industry breakthrough in meeting the growing demands of defense logistics, freight, and industrial automation. Glīd Tech is combining its sophisticated AI-powered orchestration software, called EZRA-1SIX, with its hybrid-electric crewless ground vehicle, called Rāden.
The current inefficiencies in freight and defense logistics worldwide were the primary motivator behind this initiative. Widespread labor shortages, geopolitical instability, outdated infrastructure, and increased carbon mandates all put significant stress on supply chains worldwide. Companies are increasingly struggling to move products from one place to another. The biggest logistical delays and expenses come when moving goods from trucks to trains. It requires extensive manual labor and relies on older diesel-powered fleets, which increase carbon emissions and offer limited operational scalability.
Glīd Tech's solution to this problem is to utilize the existing rail infrastructure that has remained underused for far too long. With its new, fully autonomous logistics platform, it can utilize both road and rail infrastructure to enhance supply chain efficiency, reduce operating costs, and achieve faster mobility for national and commercial security applications.
Rather than man and machine working against each other, they can now work together to transform traditional logistics processes by utilizing and advancing existing infrastructure to meet modern-day demands. The world is on the verge of entering the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industrial 4.0), where EZRA-1SIX and Rāden will use intelligence, automation, and modular technology to revolutionize logistics forever. Glīd Tech is leading the way. Watch the Glīd Technologies difference here:
How Rāden and EZRA-1SIX Work
Rāden is an autonomous hybrid-electric vehicle approximately 94 inches wide, 264 inches long, and 54 inches high. It is designed for road and rail transportation, particularly high-payload operations with a capacity of between 4,000 and 10,000 pounds that take place off the grid. This technology offers significantly more operational flexibility and efficiency in the defense and commercial sectors than can be found in other competitive technologies.
The uncrewed Rāden vehicle can travel up to 65 miles per hour on roads and up to 25 miles per hour on rail tracks, providing a total operational range of up to 600 miles. The most impressive feature is how the vehicle automatically transitions from the road to the rail tracks in transload zones without requiring human intervention. It eliminates common bottleneck problems in transload zones, where manual intervention typically leads to increased costs, injuries, and delays.
